This policy explains what information our watch faces and apps collect, why, who it’s shared with, and the choices you have.
It applies to our Wear OS watch faces on Google Play, their companion phone apps, DB Compass, which works with our Bearing watch face, and this website with its contact form. Our other apps have their own privacy policies. The list at the end shows which section covers each app. Design Blues (“we”, “us”) makes these apps. You can reach us at design6blues@gmail.com.

01Watch faces
Our watch faces run on your watch. They collect no data and send nothing to us or anyone else.
A face can show information such as the time, date, battery, steps, heart rate, weather, sunrise and sunset, your next calendar event or how many notifications you haven’t read. Most of this comes from complications, which your watch and the apps you choose supply. Some faces read your heart rate or steps from the watch’s sensors themselves, and your watch may ask you to allow that. Either way, the information is only shown on your watch. Our faces don’t store it or send it anywhere.
- Watch Face Format faces, which include all our newer Wear OS faces, contain no code: your watch draws them from a design file.
- Our older Wear OS faces were made with Samsung’s Watch Face Studio and include its standard software. With it you can customise the face from Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app on your phone. Those settings pass only between your watch and your phone.
Your choices for a face, such as colours and complications, are saved on your watch.
02Departures and DB Compass
These apps collect no data and send nothing to us or anyone else. Neither has Android’s internet permission, so neither can connect to the internet by itself. They have no analytics, no advertising and no Firebase.
Departures phone app
It adds flip clock widgets, a bedside night clock and wallpapers. It uses this information on your phone only:
- your next alarm time and battery level, to show them on its board, widgets and night clock;
- which way your phone is tilted, read from the motion sensor only while its live wallpaper is on screen, to move the light on the metal. This is never saved;
- the name of your connected watch, to tell you which watch the Google Play page opened on;
- your settings, and a few counters (when you first opened the app, on how many days, whether you’ve added a widget or set a wallpaper, and when it last asked for a rating), so it asks for a rating only after a good moment and at most every 60 days.
It uses Google Play services to open the watch face’s Google Play page on your watch, and it shows Google Play’s own rating window now and then. It sends no notifications.
DB Compass
DB Compass runs on your watch. It reads the watch’s compass sensor to show your heading in a watch face complication, and it remembers which watch face slots use it. It doesn’t use your location.
03Console Flight phone app (DB1210)
From version 3.0, the Console Flight phone app adds widgets, a bedside clock and wallpapers in the watch face’s design. It has no analytics, no advertising and no advertising ID. It uses:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging, to send news about new watch faces and updates. It uses a Firebase installation ID and a messaging token, the app version and basic device information. On Android 13 and newer, the app asks before it shows notifications.
- Google Play services, to find your paired watch, show its name and whether Console Flight is on it, and open the watch face’s Google Play page on it.
- Information on your phone only: the time, your battery level and your next alarm, to show them on its widgets. They’re never sent anywhere, and your settings are saved on your phone.
- The list of our other watch faces under “More from Design Blues”, which it downloads from our website at most once a day. The request carries no personal information (section 16).
- Contact us, which opens the contact form on our website with the app’s details filled in (section 15). The app itself sends nothing; the form sends only when you press Send.
- Google Play’s rating window, which the app can show after a good moment, such as adding a widget, and when you tap Rate us.
Versions before 3.0 also used Google Analytics for Firebase, which collects the information described in section 04. Updating the app to version 3.0 or later stops it.
04Companion apps: DB1208, DB1212, DB1213 and DB1221
These phone apps help you install a watch face on your watch, preview it and find our other designs. To do that, and to improve them, they use:
- Google Play services, to find your paired watch and open the watch face’s Google Play page on it.
- Google Analytics for Firebase, to count how the apps are used. It collects a random app-instance ID; the Android advertising ID; events such as the app opening, screens viewed and buttons tapped; how you found the app (the Google Play install referrer); the app version, phone model, Android version and language; and your general location (country, region or city), worked out from your IP address. Google Analytics doesn’t keep the IP address itself. We use this information only for statistics, to understand which features and designs people like, and not to identify you.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging, to send news about new watch faces and updates. It uses a Firebase installation ID and a messaging token, the app version and basic device information.
- Rating reminders. The app may schedule a notification on your phone asking you to rate it. The reminder is created on your phone, and nothing is sent anywhere for it.
- Google Play’s rating window and updates. The app can show Google Play’s own rating window, and Google Play can tell you when a new version is available.
05Ads in DB1208
Only one of our apps shows ads: the DB1208 companion app, which shows banner ads from Google AdMob. In addition to section 04, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects the following and shares it with Google for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention:
- your phone’s IP address, which may be used to estimate its general location;
- your interactions with the app and its ads, such as app launches, taps and views;
- diagnostic information about how the app and the ads perform;
- device identifiers: the Android advertising ID, the app set ID and, where your phone has them, Android’s Privacy Sandbox ad features.
Ads may be personalised based on this information, where the law and your choices allow it.
Your choices about ads
- Anywhere: you can turn off ad personalisation, or reset or delete your advertising ID, in your phone’s settings (Settings › Google › Ads, or Settings › Privacy › Ads). Once you delete it, it can no longer be used to personalise ads.
- In US states with privacy laws (such as California), letting Google use this information for personalised ads may count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information. You can opt out by deleting your advertising ID as above, or ask us by email.
To learn how Google uses data from apps that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
06Older companion apps: DB1201, DB1203 and DB1205
These companion apps help you install the watch face on your watch and find our other designs. They use OneSignal to send notifications about new watch faces and updates. When you open one, it asks whether you want to allow notifications.
When the app starts, it registers your phone with OneSignal, even if you don’t allow notifications. OneSignal receives a OneSignal ID and a push token (delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging), plus your phone model, Android version, language, time zone, mobile carrier and network type, whether the phone is rooted, the app version and when you last opened the app. Like any internet service, its servers also receive your IP address. OneSignal acts as our service provider; see the OneSignal privacy policy.
These apps also use Google Play services to open the watch face’s Google Play page on your watch, and they can show Google Play’s own rating window.
07Notifications
Notifications from our companion apps are optional. They bring news about new watch faces and updates, and sometimes a reminder to rate the app. You can turn them off for any app at any time in your phone’s settings (Settings › Apps › the app › Notifications). The Departures phone app sends no notifications.
08Google Play
- Buying. Google Play handles your purchase and payment. We don’t receive your payment details. Google gives us sales reports for accounting and tax, such as order numbers, dates, prices and the buyer’s country.
- Ratings and reviews. A rating or review you leave, including in Google Play’s rating window inside our apps, goes to Google Play, like any other review.
See the Google Privacy Policy.

11Security
Data collected by the services above is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and stored by those providers under their own security programmes. We don’t run servers of our own that store your personal data, and we have no user accounts. Messages you send us are kept in Design Blues’ own Google account, in Gmail and a private Google Sheet. Information that our watch faces, Departures and DB Compass use stays on your devices, in storage that Android and Wear OS keep private to the app.
12Keeping and deleting data
- Watch faces, Departures and DB Compass: nothing is collected. Their settings stay on your device until you uninstall the app, which deletes them.
- Google Analytics for Firebase: event-level data is deleted automatically after the retention period set in our account, which is at most 14 months. Totals in reports, such as daily users, may be kept longer, and they don’t identify you.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: the messaging token stops working when you uninstall the app, and Firebase deletes inactive installation data after a period of time.
- OneSignal: device records are kept until we delete them. Ask us and we’ll delete yours.
- AdMob: Google handles this data under its own retention policies.
- Messages you send us (section 15): kept in our Gmail and Google Sheet only as long as we need them to help you and to count how people find our apps. We delete them, and their rows in the Sheet, sooner if you ask.
To ask us to delete data linked to your app installation, email design6blues@gmail.com and tell us which app. Uninstalling an app stops all collection, and deleting or resetting your advertising ID breaks the link to past data.
13Children
Our apps are not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country), and we don’t knowingly collect data from them. The ads in DB1208 are not directed at children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
14Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR (in the EU), the UK GDPR and US state laws such as the CCPA give you rights over your personal data. These include the right to access, correct or delete it, to object to or restrict its use, to withdraw consent and to opt out of targeted advertising. To use any of them, email design6blues@gmail.com. We’ll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for notifications (you choose whether to allow them), and on our legitimate interests to understand how our apps are used, keep them working and prevent fraud. When you contact us, we rely on our legitimate interest in answering you, and on your choice to include the optional details. Google and OneSignal may store and process data in other countries, including the United States, under safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
15If you contact us
You can write to design6blues@gmail.com or use the contact form on this website. Contact us in our phone apps (Console Flight from version 3.0) opens the same form. We use what you send only to answer you and, from your answer to “how did you find us”, to learn how people find our apps. We don’t add you to any mailing list, and we don’t share your details with anyone else or use them for advertising.
The contact form asks for:
- what your message is about, and the message itself;
- your email address, so we can reply;
- if you like: your name, your watch, which watch face or app it’s about, where you found us (such as Google Play, Instagram, Reddit or a friend), and one screenshot. The page makes the screenshot smaller on your device before sending it.
When an app opens the form, it puts some details in the page’s address: which watch face it is, the app’s version, your phone’s make and model, its Android version, and your connected watch’s name, which can include your own name (such as “Sam’s Galaxy Watch”). The page shows them to you before you send anything: the watch’s name in a field you can change or clear, and the rest in a list with a switch to leave them out. It then removes them from the address bar. They sit after the “#” in the address, the part a browser keeps to itself, so they stay on your phone and reach us only if you press Send.
When you press Send, the page sends what’s in the form over HTTPS to a Google Apps Script in Design Blues’ Google account. The script emails it, with any screenshot, to design6blues@gmail.com, and adds it as a row to a private Google Sheet in the same account. Google provides Gmail, Google Sheets and Apps Script as our service provider. As with any web request, Google’s servers receive your IP address; our script doesn’t see or keep it.
While you write, the page keeps a draft of the form (your message, email, name, watch and choices, but not the screenshot) in your browser’s storage on your device, so nothing is lost if sending fails. It never leaves your device unless you send it, and it’s deleted when your message is sent or when you choose Start over.
Our email is provided by Google (Gmail). We delete your messages, and their rows in the Sheet, once we no longer need them to help you, or sooner if you ask.
16This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and loads nothing from other websites: its fonts, pictures and the short film of a departures board all come from this site. Our pages run small scripts of our own. On the home page and each face’s page, the script shows the face you choose on a pictured watch and runs Console Flight live at your time; on a phone it can read which way the phone is tilted, so the watch turns and the face’s horizon banks with it (an iPhone asks you first). That reading stays on your device and is never sent or saved. The home page’s search and filters run on your device too; nothing you type there is sent anywhere. On the contact page, the script fills in the details an app put in the link, shows our watch faces, makes a screenshot smaller on your device, keeps your unsent draft in your browser, and sends the form to Google Apps Script only when you press Send (section 15). The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the addresses of the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running.
Our newer phone apps (Console Flight from version 3.0) download a short list of our watch faces, with their names, short descriptions and icons, from designblues.pages.dev at most once a day, to show them under “More from Design Blues”. The request carries no account, ID or other personal information. Like any visit to this website, it reaches Cloudflare with your phone’s IP address, which we don’t use to identify you.
17Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, for example because an app starts handling information differently, we’ll update this page and the effective date at the top, and we’ll point out important changes here.
On 28 October 2026 we added the contact form (section 15), the Console Flight phone app from version 3.0 (section 03) and the list of watch faces our apps download (section 16).
